Milran Militia 'Defender'

Milra is a world on the fringes of the Colosseum sector bordering Krik space. The people are constantly being raided and besieged by these ruthless and greedy aliens and often times get caught up in urban combat. most conventional weaponry was either too complex or cumbersome for the non-militaristic populace of the planet to wield effectively in the face of the Krik, who are notorious for being extremely fast on their feet. To the planets government has begun to commission all its local gunsmiths to produce light weight and compact firearms to distribute to all its local militia groups. The resulting weaponry that came from this commission did not disappoint them.

The Milran Militia 'Defender' is a compacted version of a pistol and short barreled rifle made out of a light weight, yet durable plastic polymer mesh. It fires a 7.56x39mm round in a similar fashion to the AK-47 rifles of old giving it an acceptable deal of stopping power. It comes with a standard 14 round magazine and is capable of both semi-automatic and automatic fire. Its receiver is built based on old WWII semi-automatic rifles and carbines lending to a slightly complex yet easy to repair nature. However, it also renders the weapon slightly more prone to jamming. All in all the weapon weighs just over six pounds and is simple enough to use that most untrained military personnel can use it effectively and safely. The only downside to this weapon is the recoil and lack of usual recoil reduction methods. To this end, owners of this weapon often add on aftermarket options to increase their chance of keeping the weapon stable, or simply practice trigger discipline.

The weapon was so successful that the Milran government decided to put it into mass production and issue large quantities of them to every population center that could receive them, even going so far as to make it completely legal for non-combatants to own them without a license or proper training. Its reputation has grown to such an extent that the Milran government has begun selling any excess they own to nearby worlds and freelance ship crews. The weapons nature makes it ideal for ship defense.

After a lot of drama, I return with new weapon designs! Starting us off with the Defender. I quite like this weapon, simple, easy to use, and effective. Though obviously not everyone's cup of tea.
